Cozy Cowl Necks

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

Anndddd the dreaded “M” day is back. Luckily for most of us, we have a short work week as we gear up for Thanksgiving Day! Pete and I hosted our Friendsgiving party this past weekend and had such a wonderful time. I am such a sucker for throwing parties. If I could make a job out of it, I would! If you’re stuck on what you can do to jazz up your Thanksgiving Day décor, I’m posting a few photo ideas in this blog to show you, which I also had on my Insta-stories over the weekend.

So on to my outfit. I got this cozy cowl neck sweater from Marshall’s last week and I’ve already worn it 4 times (even almost to bed). I am not a huge fan of turtlenecks, but I always make an exception when it comes to cowl necks, especially sweaters that are as soft as this one! Of course Marshall’s doesn’t have an online buying option so you physically have to go to the store. But as always, I try to link very similar sweaters for ya’ll to get my exact look. Check em’ out below.

I’m working on gift guides from the holidays which will be coming up later this week. Xo, Brooke

First Fun Collab

TGIF sweethearts! Blogging really quick about my first ever collaboration with a really fun and talented clothing company, Universal Architect. It’s an Ohio based clothing company started by Angela, a very talented photographer (girl can do it all!). I had never done a collab photo shoot before so when Angela reached out to me, I was nervous! But I took a leap of faith and I’m so glad I did. I love any shirts with fun sayings (those that know me know I am constantly dressing my kids in shirts with phrases!) and when I saw the Universal Architect clothing line, I knew I would be in love. When I met Angela, she was so down to earth and we had a blast walking around downtown shooting. I am all about buying local and helping small businesses, especially one created by a hard-working mom. You can shop her adorable and affordable custom shirts here:

Camo Collection Looks

Green is back on the blog ya’ll, and this time in a different way! I’m seeing a huge spike in camo styled clothing and accessories lately. It’s one of those patterns that people either love or hate, but I definitely love the look if you can pull it off right and not look like you’re headed out for a hunting excursion.

I have a few key camo pieces in my closet which include a scarf and baseball cap, but a few weeks ago I decided to broaden my horizons and I bought these camo pants from Kohl’s. Camo is edgy, so I’m breaking down these two looks I created as well as other ways to style them 🙂

Some other ways I would style these pants:

1. White Converse sneakers and a baggy gray or white sweatshirt or a baggy white tee with a jean jacket and slip on sneakers for a casual look.

2. Black high heel booties with a black blouse, nude or tan pumps with a white ruffle sweater or blouse and black jacket for a dressier look.

Blacks & Golds OOTD

Today’s OOTD was inspired by me running around getting last minute stuff for a Friendsgiving party we have planned for this weekend (this is my cab driver outfit lol). This black sweater is on sale at Target and you’ve all seen me in the blush one. It’s hands down the softest sweater I’ve ever owned and it has the cool “short/cropped” look, but it’s not so short that it looks like its from Baby Gap. The ruffles are just too dang cute and who doesn’t love a good ruffle? I have on size M. I’m seeing a ton of chenille sweaters out lately and I’m linking some other cute ones for you, all for only $20 each. Also, as I’m typing this with the iPhone glitch (for those of you that know what I’m talking about) it’s so hard to keep “i” and “it” out of my blog posts!

I also went to one of my all time favorite stores, Charming Charlie. They give me a coupon in the mail just about every other week (which is usually how much I’m in there lol). The bracelets and rings I’m wearing are from there. I’m really into stacking bracelets with watches and just started buying stack rings. They’re edgy and cool, which I’m trying to be now that I’m in my thirties 😉 They’re all a steal at $10 and under and the rings are an extra 30% off. Score!

Is everyone gearing up for Thanksgiving? (And buying stretch pants for the big day lol). We usually have 3-4 places to go for Turkey Day because our family is so big! Luckily they are all within the same few cities so it makes traveling, especially with two kids, so much easier. But to be honest, we wouldn’t have it any other way, it’s so fun going from one house to the next! We are so thankful for that ❤️

Top Ten Thanksgiving Day Dresses

With Turkey Day quickly approaching I want to share my top ten adorable and affordable dresses to celebrate and be thankful in! I am really into sweater dresses lately. All of these are under $75 and can be worn over and over again. (And also have plenty of room for when you overindulge in the mashed potatoes and gravy).

I wore this wine colored one downtown yesterday and got lots of compliments on it! It’s very warm and the tie bell sleeves are so dang cute. I had a photo shoot with a really fun clothing company (I made Pete come with me) and afterward, we had a nice day date and went to one of our favorite Cleveland restaurants, Mabel’s BBQ. Has anyone ever been there? It is seriously one of the best barbecue joints! We then headed over to CLE Clothing Co., which is Pete’s favorite store for Cleveland gear.

Ok, back to the dresses. These can all be worn so many ways for Thanksgiving. Add tights and booties, pumps, or go bare-legged like I did with tall or OTK boots. Put a belt around your waist, a pretty scarf, or a statement jacket. The possibilities are endless 🙂
