Red Sweater + Casual Valentine’s Day

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I’ve been wearing this red sweater and beanie combo a ton lately. The weeks before Valentine’s Day is the only time you’ll usually ever see me in red. It can be such a tricky color for people to pull off, especially when you’re as pale as me (think vampire). But when I wear it, you can definitely see me coming a mile away! Clearly from these photos, I’ll need to invest in some really good self-tanner in the next few months so if you have any suggestions, let me know!

Ok, back to my outfit. H&M is almost always my go-to store for over-sized sweaters at great prices. Usually after Christmas I stock up there because they have really awesome deals. This red sweater is only $12.99! I snagged a ton of sweaters when I went a few weeks ago because we still have so much winter left. And I’m embarrassed to say, but I wear these jeans at least 2-3 times a week (which you can probably already tell from all my photos that these are the exact same ones in almost every pic over and over). When you find the right kind of jeans, you can’t help but wear the crap out of them! I’ve had several people ask me what brand and where to buy. When they bought a pair for themselves, they raved about them! I have them linked below.

I’m also sharing lots of other adorable casual sweaters that are perfect for February 14th. Our Valentine’s Day is usually an indoor, pizza and comfy clothes kind of evening, but I’m hoping (hint, hint Pete) that we can make it to a fancy dinner this year! Do you like to dress up or stay in in sweats? Comment and let me know your ideal Valentine’s Day!

Mustard Chenille Sweater + Other Winter Wear

Happy Friday ya’ll! The weekend is finally here and if you’re in an area like me where it’s freezing, I hope you are staying warm! It’s supposed to get hotter the next few days (40 degrees, which for Ohio is a heat wave), so I’m looking forward to not wearing 6 layers of clothing! Although, I have to admit that I really love the winter! Oversized sweaters and beanies are my jam.

I’ve really been into bold colors lately to brighten up the nasty weather we’ve been having. I’m sure you can tell from my latest Instagram posts that almost every color of the rainbow goes for me. I was never really a fan of mustard colored clothing until I got this mustard chenille sweater. It’s currently on clearance at Target and can only be bought in-store. But I’m linking lots of other mustard items I’m loving that you can incorporate into your wardrobe. Mustard is a great shade for all seasons! If you’re too afraid to go all out with the yellow and to make sure you don’t look like a walking bottle of Grey Poupon, some fun earrings or a handbag adds just the right pop of color. Plus yellow makes me think of sunshine and I know spring is right around the corner <3 I'm working on lots of new posts for the new year that I can't wait to share. If there is something specific you'd love to see, you can always comment here or shoot me an email or DM on Instagram! I'd love to know what ya'll are wanting to see for the upcoming months. Have a great weekend loves! Xo, Brooke

Today I stopped at Ulta after work (during an ice storm) to pick up a few of my go-to products. If you’ve ever been into Ulta, you know it’s a must to check out all the new makeup items. Once in a while I try different beauty products to see if I like them better than what I’m currently using. I’m such a creature of habit when it comes to my makeup. But I’ve been branching out lately and wearing bolder lipsticks, and trying different foundations and new mascaras.

I went for a fun color with this one! This stuff is definitely matte. I liked it because it stayed on for a long time. It does have kind of a “dry” feel but for the price, you can’t beat it. The color I have on is Fandango Purple and I’m not gonna lie, I love that it matches my sweater! They were buy one get one 50% off so I also got it in Rioja Red.

This foundation has major staying power! I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and it lasts such a long time. I have combination skin and this works really good with it.

I am a huge fan of NYX and have been using the dark circle concealer for the past few months. I don’t really have dark circles but I love how it brightens my eyes when I use it. I grabbed the regular NYX concealer today and it’s just as good. It’s thick so the coverage is great. And this was also another good deal for just $4.99!

I think I found my new favorite mascara! I bought this about 6 weeks ago and have definitely switched over to this for my every day mascara. I absolutely love the long, thick and full lash look and this defintely helps me achieve that! And it’s a steal for only $4.99! I highly recommend this one 🙂

FYI I’m on the hallway floor because I got kicked out of the bathroom so Vinny & Mia could take a bubble bath lol. Xo, Brooke

A New Year & A Fresh New Blog

Happy Tuesday loves! As you can see, my site got a face lift and I am SO IN LOVE. It’s much easier to navigate and find what you’re looking for. I still have a few other features I’m working on. I’m going to be posting a website tour on my Insta stories of the new site to show you where to go to find recent posts, certain outfits and to shop my Instagram, so be sure to check that out 🙂

Vinny and Mia finally went back to school today after what seemed liked 2 months off. They had a 3 week winter break then 3 snow days (and we were all getting major cabin fever lol). Pete was off so we got to have a day date for the first time in a while. When you’re married to a firefighter, you soak up every minutes you get to be with them because of their crazy schedules! We decided to go furniture shopping, we are WAY overdue for new couches. The couches we have now have been with us for 12 years and have succumb to complete torture by our children. Pete and I have very different tastes when it comes to furniture and decor. But he is such a great sport and lets me almost always be the decision maker when picking stuff out for the house. While walking into the furniture store we both joked how many times we’d say “I don’t like that” to each other’s choices. But after 10 minutes, we both agreed on a set we really loved!

OK, enough rambling and on to my outfit! I got this cape last season from Nordstrom and I love that I can just throw it over any undershirt. Capes and ponchos have always been my jam. And I always feel so warm and snug when I’m wearing them. There are tons of ways they can be styled too. I’ve always loved pairing mine with OTK boots and hats. You can scroll through below to see all my favs to create this look!

Hope everyone is loving the new site as much as I am!  Xoxo, Brooke

Cool Women’s Watch

If you know me, you know I am crazy about watches. As in, I absolutely LOVE them.  I don’t leave the house without one on my wrist. I’ve never owned a wood watch before, but the look of the JORD ones have such a pretty, rustic feel. And the more I saw them, the more I really wanted one!

I’m sure lots of you have seen these wood watches all over Instagram/Facebook/Pinterest. When I first started blogging, I noticed them EVERYWHERE. When my watch arrived, I was like a kid at Christmas (literally, it was almost Christmas time lol). It came in a gorgeous wooden box and the watch was so lightweight, yet so sturdy. I put it on and the rest is history 🙂 JORD uses different types of wood to create their beautiful time pieces, including Ebony and Maple, so there are several styles to choose from. The one I have is a Frankie Series Koa & Ash and the big face is right up my alley. I wear it all the time and get so many compliments on it!
