My Favorite Sunmer Maxi Dresses

Welcome to Friday Eve ya’ll! It’s been a great first week off of school with Vinny and Mia. We’ve had some amazing weather and very fun adventures so far. I’m looking forward to having my Tuesdays and Thursdays off with them this summer so we can complete our Summer Bucket List (which I talked about in THIS post). I’d love to know what some of your favorite things to do in the summer are! Comment and let me know, I’d love to hear from you!

With the weather heating up, one of my favorite go-to outfits for summer are maxi dresses. These can literally be worn any way. Casual, date night, swim-suit cover up, lightweight blanket…you name it, the maxi has you covered 😉 On the blog for tonight I’ve got all the ones I think are extremely fabulous for the summer season! Floral is always so pretty but I’m really into the striped ones! Hope ya’ll had a wonderful Thursday! Xo, Brooke

Sunshine & Swimsuit Season

Today was SO hot out! We got to spend the day with friends at the lake and it was such a blast! There’s nothing like watching your kids splash around with huge smiles on their faces in the summer sunshine! And also a little mommy downtime to sunbathe 😉

I haven’t bought a swimsuit in a really long time, so I was way overdue for a new one. I’m sure like most people out there, trying to find a good fitting and flattering suit is SO hard. I came across the one I’m wearing on Amazon. I was a little leery of just outright buying it, but since we have Prime and I could easily return it, I added it to my cart.  And let me tell you it is so comfortable and chic! I’m obsessed with off the shoulder anything, so of course this was a winner! I also really love the high-waisted look.  I’m linking a lot of really unique and fun suits for summer. I’m all about the poms, tassels and ruffles for suits. I just love that extraness 😉

Hope everyone had such a wonderful holiday weekend. I’m so thankful  and fortunate to be able to have this time off to enjoy with friends and family. Xo, Brooke

Summer Sunshine + Rompers

Photos: State of the Heart Photography

Do you ever stumble upon an online boutique and fall in love with every single piece they have? That’s exactly what happened with me when I came across Olive & Pepper. I ordered this gorgeous green romper from there and immediately threw it on and felt like a million bucks. I never used to be a romper kind of girl, but they have slowly become my favorite pieces for summer! I’ve linked some others that I think are so darling! Are you a fan of rompers for summer?

So I thought it would be fun to share a few items from my Summer Bucket List with ya’ll! I create these every year and if you’re local, you’ll see all the places I want to check out. I love to be adventurous! Xo, Brooke

  1. Visit new playgrounds with Vinny and Mia. We take them to playgrounds that are close to our house but this year I want to go to ones we’ve never been to, including Carolyn Ludwig Mugrage Park in Medina.
  2. Make homemade ice cream. We used to make it at my grandparent’s house while I was growing up and I’d love to learn how to do it!
  3. Visit Kelley’s Island. Our kids would love taking the ferry over to the island! I went there with my family when I was younger and there are so many things to do.
  4. Canopy Walk at Holden Arboretum. This place has been on my radar for a while!
  5. Go to the Troll Hole in Alliance. Okay, this is kind of a crazy one lol but Mia loves anything trolls related and this place looks so fun!
  6. Go to a drive-in movie.  Something about being outside in the fresh summer air watching a movie makes me happy!
  7. Eat at Spaghetti Warehouse in Akron. This one is for Vinny, there’s a train right in the middle of the restaurant!

Happy Friday night loves! I don’t know about ya’ll but I’m so happy it’s finally the weekend , and a 3 day weekend at that! I’m looking forward to spending time with family and friends and the sunshine that we will have for the next 72 hours!

I’m doing a quick post to break down all my favorite items from the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale. So many items that I’ve had my eyes on are officially on sale at really great prices. Check out all my picks below! Hope everyone enjoys the nice long weekend! Xo, Brooke

How I Get A Good Night’s Sleep

I’m changing it up a little bit on the blog today! I thought it would be fun to share with ya’ll how I get a good night’s rest.

When I was in my early 20’s, I often went to bed around 9:30 during the week.  As I approached my 30’s, I found myself staying up later and later (maybe it was just being used to getting up all hours of the night with babies that created the night owl in me!). And with my blogging, the only time I can really get much done with two very busy kids is at night. I usually have no problem falling asleep. But some nights, my mind wanders and I think about the million things I have to do the next day and eventually, 2 AM creeps up. So I teamed up with Som Sleep for Better Sleep Month to help achieve that great night’s sleep!

Everything about the Som Sleep drink can be found here on their website. The drink has a ton of benefits to it, including no sugar, gluten free, non gmo and non-habit forming! And it actually tastes really great! I thought for sure it would taste like a Red Bull or Monster drink (and I normally don’t drink any of those things but the few times I have the taste forever stuck in my mind!) The first time I drank the Som Sleep drink, I was asleep within 10 minutes and didn’t wake the ENTIRE night! In my experience, this stuff is the answer to your restless nights 😉

Here are some other things I like to do to get ready for bed:

  1. Power down everything and unplug from technology. This sounds easier said than done! And I admit most nights I’m on my iPhone or computer quite a long time. But I feel that it helps so much to get “unwired” from all the gadgets.
  2.  Take a bubble bath. I LOVE taking baths. I use a ton of bath bombs and bubbles and it helps me to just relax from the day’s stress. These bath bombs are my current fav!
  3.  Read a good book. I’m a super avid reader. I love mysteries, documentaries, etc. Reading definitely helps me to slow down and get ready for rest. I just bought this book.
  4.  Soothing Sounds. I almost always play a beach waves or rain sound from an app on my phone (I use Soundscapes).

Happy sleeping ya’ll! Xo, Brooke
